Tim Pausinger

What’s your name and where do you work currently?

My name is Tim Pausinger, I work currently at my shop Most Precious Ink in Coburg Germany with the co owner of the shop Michel Porsch and my apprentice Philipp Ohme... and I also do a few guestspots, like Time Travelling Tattoo Landshut, Lonien Tattoo Trier and Rockland Tattoos Witten... and I hope there will be much more...

Where are you from originally?

I'm born in Landshut... it's a small town in bavaria near munich...

How did you get into tattooing? Did you do a traditional apprenticeship?

I was always interested in tattoos or getting tattoos and tattooed people... no I don't did a traditional apprenticeship... I learned the most myself, but the basics I learned from Gerhard Time Travelling Tattoo in Landshut... he gave me the chance to hang out in his shop, made the appointments for him and so on... I work now in his shop as guest tattooer one week per month... he is an awesome black and dot work tattooer and I can still learn a lot from him...

How old are you? And how much time have you been creating your design style?(traditional, neo-traditional, so on)

I’m 22... from the start I tried to find my own style and it's still a process of developing my own style... I started with comic and new school stuff but there was always a traditional influence... after this I was going more into neo traditional stuff. At this point I started to paint with water colors with my current apprentice Philipp Ohme and this made my work more and more traditional... but I was always trying to learn from all styles of tattooing like Japanese, or geometrical stuff...

How did you get contact with this style in the first place?

I was reading a tattoo magazine, with an article of eli quinters... that was before I started tattooing... and the style and the power of these tattoos totally blew my mind and they still do...

Is there some special reason for you to like these kind of designs?

The only answer for this question I think is "bold will hold"... and the same as above... they got power and these style was created for the skin like tribals and japanese stuff...

Tell us some names that really influence you on your designs?

Puh!! There are lot... the most important for me are: Uncle A, Chriss Dettmer, all the guys from smith street tattoo , the guys from Name Brand, Chad Koeplinger,Thomas Hooper, Philipp Ohme, Gerhard Wiesbeck, Martin Amschel, Roberto Seifert, Peter Lagergren, Chris O'donnel, Filip Leu and not to forget the legends like Sailor Jerry, Owen Jensen, Paul Rogers, Leonard "Stoney" St Claire, Herbert Hoffman and so on...

What elements do you like most and why? (e.g., some likes more roses, others diamonds, eyes and so on)

I always like stuff that are out of the nature like roses, skulls, bones and so on you know, I like the hour glass things as well but when you have done them a few times you get bored of them, of course I like them more like tribals or stuff like this, but it's not like a rose or a skull... you can do em in 10000 different ways and will never get bored of them...

When you’re creating some designs for a tattoo, you think that’s important to know the meanings of each design?

Of course a special meaning for a design can be important but for me the most important thing is that the design will fit to the customer...

Can you explain how you come up with an idea for a tattoo design in your mind? What’s your inspiration?

Oh that’s a hard question... sometimes a customer comes up with a great idea and you just have to bring it on paper and skin... but the most customers come in with a few ideas and I put them together in my head then I make a sketch after this a finished line drawing...

In which circumstances do you have better ideas for designs? (Would u rather have your client give you full range to do your thing or do u like having a really specific direction?)

i prefer customers with a good idea and then they give you complete free hand for the design...

Do you think that the artist should reinvent themselves every day trying new things?

You don't have to reinvite you self every day, but it's very important to develop your style and tattoos... if this ever stops you stop to be a good tattooer...

Would u rather hold on or sell your unique arts or original paintings?

Who bets most gets it...

Which of your own tattoos is currently your favorite? Why?

I love all of my tattoos, couse I learned from every tattoo I got and I met a lot of good tattooers in this way...

Are there any artists you’re eager to get work from?

Yeah of course... the guys from smith street, name brand... and I will get my neck tattoo from matt shamah at the this years london convention, really looking forward to this...

Do you have a collection of other artist’s art?

Not really... I just started to buy some flash prints and originals...  the most important picture is an original form Jürgen Eckel...

Tell some of your favorite tattooist/designers from today?

I like the art form Chriss Dettmer, A.P. Shrewsbury, Jeff Zuck, Robert Ryan,
Steve Boltz, Bert Krak... and there are so much more...

Do you have some sketchbook or arts for sale? If you do, where the people can find it?
