27th March 2013

Our pals, Talley Matthew and Bryce Operandi at the Martlet Tattoo Parlour are celebrating their 18 month anniversary with this event. Those brave enough will get to try their luckon random halfs from some pre-drawn designs. This should be a fun day for everyone involved and I'm looking forward to seeing some photos from the event!

Manchester Tattoo Tea Party - 2nd/3rd March 2013
We had a chance to head to the annual Tattoo Tea Party in Manchester earlier this month. The convention had a great vibe, and it was great to see such a strong attendance, from both artists and the public. The artist line up was certainly an improvement from the year before, and this showed in the number of people looking to get a good tattoo. It's always great to see solid international artists traveling to work these smaller conventions, but the locals were out in force with a rather large and impressive booth from Rain City and Blue Blood (Manchester). The venue is a great location for a convention with decent parking and solid transport links, but the residents of the Model Steam fair that was sharing the building didn't really seem ready for the company of tattoo convention residents. Perhaps they were just jealous of the free supply of Monster Energy to bring people back to life from the previous night's convention activities. The layout of the convention was at first off putting, as we found ourselves landing in the same spot several times when trying to walk around, but after a couple of attempts it was nice to stumble upon booths that you hadn't already seen, just when we thought we had made our rounds. Although it's obvious to say, these conventions are always a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, as well as meet a bunch of rad new people and shoot the shit about what's good in the tattoo world, as well as what isn't so good.
